Geography 1st year *INCLUDE PART*
In the first year, all students take two compulsory geography courses, as well as other courses from the science programme.
These two first year courses provide an introduction to key theories and concepts in both human and physical geography.
They focus on global economic, social and environmental problems and change.
Particular attention is paid to issues surrounding:
- natural resource management
- environmental hazards
Throughout both courses, students are encouraged to reflect upon the relationship between local and global patterns and processes, and on the relationship between human societies and the biophysical environment.
Students also take further courses in their first year. Students registered for BSc (Hons) in Geography are encouraged to take subjects mainly drawn from the science programme, though there is room for flexibility.
