The School continues to be a top performer as judged by independent Assessment Exercises.
In 2014, the School maintained its track record of success in national research assessment exercises. The Results of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) show that the School is again ranked top in the UK for ‘research power’ with the equivalent of 82 full-time researchers at the ‘globally leading’ and ‘internationally excellent’ standard.
The School’s submission to Unit of Assessment B7 - spanning the range of geography, earth systems and environmental sciences - reflects the exceptional breadth and strength of the School.
Our students are highly sought-after by employers, with the University of Edinburgh rated 16th worldwide on this measure. Students in our School recorded an overall satisfaction level of 92% in this year's National Student Survey. Twenty-five of our staff were nominated for Teaching Excellence Awards. Our commitment to improving our teaching quality year on year is shown by steady increases in both of these metrics.
