15 October: GS at National Museum of Scotland for Science Saturdays
On Saturday October 15, Generation Scotland will participate in the Science Saturday event organised at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.
Exhibition tables in the Grand Gallery
The theme of this Science Saturday event is 'The Gene Scene'. Visitors to the museum will be able to visit stands of various organisations and institutions, such as the Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine, Edinburgh Genomics, and Generation Scotland. All exhibitors will prepare a fun, hands-on activity to explore genetics. At the Generation Scotland stand, visitors will be invited to draw their own family tree. Colouring-in tables will be set up for younger visitors. The exhibition will be open from 12:00 to 16:00.
Would you sequence your own genome?
In addition to the exhibition, a debate will take place in the auditorium. Here, experts will be discussing the future of genome sequencing. The debate will run from 14:00 to 15:30, is suitable for adults and students age 12+, and is free, but booking is required. A link to the registration website is provided at the bottom of this page.
We hope that you will join us at the National Museum of Scotland on Saturday October 15 to explore the scientific and ethical challenges around genome sequencing!
