Need help with your instalment plan?
What to do if your plan has not been set up, your card is refused, or you are in financial difficulty and have problems paying your tuition fees.
Payment by the Recurring Card method for tuition fee instalment due on the 3rd of April 2024 will be automatically taken by the University from your card provided on this date, Do not make any other form of payment method against this instalment 7 days prior to this date to prevent being charged twice.
If you’ve not received confirmation of your plan
Most likely, your instalment plan has not been set up because your invoice has not yet been issued.
We cannot set up an instalment plan for you without an invoice.
August to October is the busiest period for issuing invoices, so it may take several weeks to receive yours. This means your instalment plan may not be set up until shortly before the first payment date.
If you are waiting for your payment plan to be set up and you have already contacted us, we would kindly ask you not to send any follow-up emails. This will help us get back to you sooner. Thank you for your patience.
Once the instalment plan has been set up, you can view the details in My finance if you log in to MyEd.
If your plan has not been set up before the first payment date
If you have not received confirmation about your instalment plan 7 days before the first date, you can make your first payment of 50% in a manual way. You can pay either by card payment or bank transfer.
If you have a question about not receiving an invoice
If you have a question about a delayed invoice, you should contact the Fees team with the form provided.
August to October is the busiest time of year for issuing invoices.
If card payments are refused
Card payments may be refused if:
-
there is not enough money in the cardholder’s account
-
the card limit is not high enough
-
the bank suspects the payment may be fraudulent and prevents it going out
If an instalment payment fails to come out on the scheduled date, you will need to make a manual payment.
If you fail to pay your instalments, your plan will be cancelled and you will need to pay all remaining fees in one payment. For any future years of study, you will not be allowed to pay by instalment.

If you are not allowed to pay by instalment
You may not be allowed to pay by instalment if the following applies:
-
you have unpaid fees from previous years
-
you have a history of missed payments
-
you are a visiting student and only studying for one semester
-
your tuition fees are £500 or less or you are paying module fees
Instead of paying by instalment, you should pay your fees in full either by card payment or bank transfer.

If you think you’re due a refund
You might need a refund if you have overpaid your tuition fees. This could happen if you have set up a Recurring Card Payment (RCP) and then made manual payments as well.
To get a refund, you should contact the Finance Helpline with the subject line: 'Request a refund for tuition fees'.
We can only refund money to the original payer. You can find out more by reading our credit balance refund policy.
