Equality, diversity and inclusion [EDI] training modules for staff.
Please note the first two e-learning modules listed below, Equality & Diversity Essentials and Challenging Unconcious Bias, are available on People and Money.
Instructions for how to enrol in People and Money are here :
- Log in to People and Money through MyEd
- Go to the Learning area
- Type the title of the module into the Search bar
- Select Enrol
Training can be carried out on these modules at your own pace. If you don’t want to complete the course in one session, click on 'Bookmark' before exiting and the module will automatically take you back to where you left off when you next log in
The courses listed below which hosted on the University Learn platform are Implementing Reasonable Adjustments for Staff, Mental Health Awareness, and Introducing Equality Impact Assessments. Instructions how to enrol in Learn are here:

Self-Enrol by logging into Learn and log in with EASE:
- Click on the “Self-Enrol” tab at the top right of your screen.
- Click the Browse Course Catalogue button and a search window will appear.
- Enter the name of the course you wish to enrol onto in the search box and click Go
- Hover your mouse pointer to the right of the Course ID, click the arrow and select Enrol.
- You will then be taken to a new page. To complete your enrolment on this course select Submit.
- You will then see a confirmation message to say your enrolment was successful.
- Click OK and you will be taken to the course.
The course will now appear in your My Courses under the 'My Learn' tab every time you login to Learn.

The e-learning modules entitled Consent Matters and Tackling Harassment are hosted on the learning platform Epigeum. To enrol in these courses, please follow the instructions outlined in the relevant section below.
e-Learning Modules:
Increase your knowledge and understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and what they are.
This module explores what Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and why they are important and why you/we should commit to making them happen. It outlines key legislation in relation to equality, and defines different forms of discrimination and unacceptable behaviours.
Course Objectives:
- Understand what equality and diversity are; why they are important to you; and what the benefits are
- Review key legislation in place to promote equality and how it applies in practice
- Understand main EDI barriers faced and how to break them down
- How to challenge unacceptable behaviours and steps you can take if you feel that you or anyone else is being treated unfairly
By the end of this course you will be able to explain what bias is and where it comes from; how it impacts on the people around us in the workplace; and what you can do to minimise the negative consequences.
This module explores what Unconscious Bias (UB) is, what it means, and how it impacts on the people around us in the workplace
Course Objectives:
- Understand what bias is and where it comes from
- How it impacts on day to day behaviours and what you can do to minimise negative consequences
- Actions you can take to resist the effects of UB in yourself and others.
This module will help you to understand disability, and identify how reasonable adjustments can be made in the workplace for staff with disabilities.
Log on to Learn
This course will support your approach to mental health by:
- providing an overview of mental ill health and the signs to look out for;
- providing tools to improve wellbeing;
- encouraging you to talk about mental health;
- explaining how you can offer support to your colleagues
This module explains what Equality Impact Assessments (EqIAs) are and why we need to do them. EqIAs are an opportunity to think about the effects our policies and working practices have on others and what we can do to break down barriers to equality. This module will also take you through how to complete an EqIA.

What are the courses about?
Consent Matters
The ‘Consent Matters’ course covers sexual consent, relationships and bystander intervention training.
The course will discuss what informed sexual consent looks like, how all parties can respect and agree clear boundaries and ensure there is consent at all times.
The course will assist you to support and services you can access and will help you to identify and recognise any abusive behaviours and lack of respect, as well as challenging the behaviours & attitudes of those who don’t respect personal & sexual boundaries.
Tackling Harassment
‘Tackling Harassment’ addresses all forms of harassment and discrimination. The course examines harassment and hate, and how members of the University community can recognise problematic situations and intervene safely.

The course is free for all students and staff at the University of Edinburgh
Instructions for accessing the courses
1. Click on this link to register https://courses.epigeum.com/register.
Complete all the required fields, leave the ‘Institution-specific field’ blank.
IMPORTANT: You must use your University of Edinburgh email address to register.
2. In the 'Token' field enter code 20dbe410
3. Click the 'Register' button at the bottom of the page.
4. You'll receive an account activation email to the address you entered during registration. Click on the link in the email to activate your account.
If you don't receive the email you can resend it here https://courses.epigeum.com/register/revalidate.
5. Once your account is activated you can log in using your username (your email address) and password.
6. You'll see the Epigeum programmes in the 'My Courses' screen.
If you don’t see the programmes you may need to enter the 'Token' in the user menu which is at the top of the page on the right.
7. Click on a programme to see the available courses, then click on a course to launch it. When your account active you can access it here https://courses.epigeum.com/login.

This free e-learning course is provided by the Gender Identity Research & Education Society. The course provides an introduction to gender variance, how to create trans-inclusive workplaces and how to support an employee who is transitioning.
