English Language Education

Terms and conditions

Terms and conditions for course and accommodation bookings.

The terms and conditions outlined below apply to all English language students who study at ELE.

Please also see the Centre for Open Learning Terms and Conditions.

Minimum age

The minimum age for registration on all courses is 18.

Right to make necessary alterations

While every effort is made to ensure that courses, accommodation, tours and activities run as advertised, we reserve the right to make any necessary alterations or cancellations. We reserve the right to transfer to another course anyone who has registered for a course of an unsuitable level or type.

There is limited availability in private household accommodation in July and August.

We regret that the accommodation reserved for our courses is not appropriate for families with children and we are not able to make such reservations on your behalf.

Depending on availability, we may be able to provide accommodation for an accompanying spouse/partner.

The charge for the second person will be the normal rate plus 25%. A pre-payment of £200 is required to make a booking for the second person.

Many students travel or return home in the vacations. Therefore we do not book accommodation for these holidays periods.

Please note that the University cannot accept liability for loss, damage or injury during ELE courses. We strongly advise you to take out a fully comprehensive policy with a reliable insurance company in your own country. You should do this at the same time as you register. The policy should include cancellation cover to safeguard your fees and travel costs and medical cover.

Full fees must be received no later than ONE MONTH  before the start date of the first course you are attending at ELE.
