English Language Education

English Language Support for International Students (ELSIS)

Free, non-credit bearing courses available for undergraduate and postgraduate students at the University of Edinburgh, whose first language is not English.

Before applying, make sure you:

  • Have read the ELSIS course descriptions to ensure you choose the courses most appropriate to your needs
  • Have checked your upcoming timetable to ensure your ELSIS courses won’t clash with your other commitments

 Please be aware:

  • You must submit a separate application for each course you apply for, and we strongly advise you not to apply for more than two courses in a Semester
  • You can only choose one class option per course
  • Courses will be taught at the Holyrood campus and King's Buildings

After submitting your application:

  • Please be patient – we will contact you after the application deadline to confirm if you have been given a place and the classroom location. Check your email after the application deadline for further communications from us
