Research

ECSS members

Edinburgh Critical Studies in Sport (ECSS) Research Group's team members.

As a cooperatively focused group, the team has no leader.

The work of our members is largely social scientific with an explicit emphasis on the critical application and understanding of sport and society. This involves exposing and critiquing power. We are an interdisciplinary team primarily consisting of sociologists, historians, policy researchers, political scientists, communication and media studies and management academics. While our activities are ground in the specialisms of researchers at the University of Edinburgh, we have members from a range of institutions.

We welcome academics, students and practitioners outwith the University of Edinburgh, whose work aligns with ours. All members receive updates on our work and invitations to group activities and knowledge exchange events.
