Governance
The governance of the Academy involves a small management team and international advisory council who help to guide the development of the Academy’s impact, study, dialogue and strategic direction.
International Advisory Council
The Council is drawn from both University and global members and in 2023-2024 it is made up of the following:
Professor Corinne Reid, Formally President Victoria University , Australia and advisor to different Olympic Teams
Professor Fan Hong, Shanghai University of Sport
Professor Bruce Kidd, Formally Vice- President, University of Toronto, Canada and Founding Chair of Commonwealth Ministers Advisory Body on Sport (CABOS)
Stuart MacDonald, Former UK and Scottish Government Senior Civil Servant, currently Senior Consultant with SYM Consulting
Dr Stuart Murray, Assistant Professor Bond University, Australia, Advisor to Australian Government
Samantha Power, US Ambassador for International Aid
Professor Lucia Trimbur, City University of New York
Dr Paul Widdop, Manchester Metropolitan University
The work of the Academy of Sport is led by Professor Grant Jarvie. The day-to-
day running of the Academy is governed by an advisory team drawn from both within and external to the University of Edinburgh and in 2022-2023, it is made up of the following:
