The Herald quoted Blackburn's comment on the free accommodation scheme for poorest students | 12-13 April 2018
Several printed media quoted Lucy Hunter Blackburn's comment on a free year in halls of residence offered by the Aberdeen University to applicants who have a postcode officially deemed as among the most deprived 20% in the UK.
Blackburn noted that the scheme, rather than benefiting poorer students, could disadvantage those from rurual areas as they are unlikely to be officially classed as being from a deprived area and hence will not qualify for this help. She added that the scheme was a "crude" measure to entice prospective students.
