Gillean McCluskey

Dr Gillean McCluskey completed her doctoral thesis on young people’s experiences of exclusion from school in 2004. She worked previously in housing and as a teacher both in mainstream secondary schools and in more specialised educational settings for young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Biography

She was recently involved in the national evaluation of the implementation of Restorative Practices in Scottish schools and is presently working on the survey of Behaviour in Scottish schools and on a project exploring the outcomes for pupils permanently excluded from special schools and Pupil Referral Units in England. She has published in the areas of school discipline, exclusion, Restorative Practices and Gypsy/Traveller education.
