The Academy of Sport is formally housed within Moray House School of Education and Sport.
Our structure and governance supports our primary aim.
Housed within the School of Education and Sport, the Academy of Sport brings together people and ideas from both inside and outside of the University of Edinburgh.
A small internal management group and an international advisory board involving people external to the University of Edinburgh support the governance of the Academy of Sport.
Within the University the Academy is aligned to:
- the Institute for Sport, Physical Education and Health Sciences ranked 1st in Scotland for sport and exercise research
- the University of Edinburgh Global Academies which were created as a response to the increasingly urgent challenges affecting world stability
The Academy works closely with other parts of the University including the School of Social & Political Science, the School of Divinity, the School of Medicine, the Centre of Canadian Studies, the Centre for African Studies and the Centre for Homelessness.
It is located close to the Scottish Parliament thus enabling access to key policy makers, committees and cross-party groups.
It works closely with many external bodies, agencies and partners including the University of Toronto in Canada and and FC Barcelona.
As we strive to build that critical mass of knowledge, research, strategic collaboration, influence, opportunity and access through sport we will work hard to work for and with local and international communities.
