Short courses and events

We offer a variety of events and short courses including conversations with education professionals and courses on timetabling, coding, digital literacy and assistive technology.

Principal teacher: leadership of learning

Due to the impact of Covid 19, this course is now being delivered virtually and has been redesigned  to be run in two parts, on consecutive weeks, on Friday 26th February 2021 and Wednesday 3rd March 2021. The course is designed for individuals in both primary and secondary sectors to give an understanding of the key concepts and strategies for leading and managing the processes of learning, teaching and assessment within a department/faculty. 

Introduction to effective timetabling

This is an intensive online 3-day secondary school timetabling course for those involved in the construction of the school timetable for the first time or in need of an overview of the basics of the theory and practice of timetabling, particularly with a focus on curriculum for excellence. The next places available are on the course in January 2021.

Principal teacher: leadership of learning - follow up course

This course has been designed as a follow up to the Principal teacher: leadership of learning course. Due to the impact of Covid 19, this course has now been rescheduled to take place online over two half day sessions on Friday 7 and Wednesday 12 May 2021.

Intermediate timetabling

This is an intermediate timetabling course on 24th February 2021 for those that have completed the effective timetabling course or those with some knowledge of timetabling.

CALL Scotland assistive technology online workshops

CALL Scotland are running a series of 90-minute online learning workshops on assistive technology to support pupils with additional support needs between August and December 2020.

Coding and cake events

Due to the Covid-19 situation, Coding & Cake events have been cancelled until further notice.
