Head of School publishes new book

Professor Richard Andrews, our Head of School, has recently published his book Polyrhythmicity in Language, Music and Society as part of Springer’s ‘Cultural Studies and Transdisciplinarity in Education’ series.

Building on his ground-breaking work in Re-framing Literacy, A Prosody of Free Verse and Multimodality, Poetry and Poetics, Andrews’ new publication explores multiple- or poly-rhythms in music, literature and the social sciences – a topic he reveals as uncommon and little researched. These rhythms are important to the experience of art and social situations, sometimes unconsciously linking physicality to feeling, decision-making (timing) and aesthetics.
