International Development & Climate Crisis

In recent months and years, we have all been thinking more about the risks of climate change, and the children of the world have been showing us how they feel about it. The Data for Children Collaborative (DCC) has undertaken the Children's Climate Risk Index project, which found that nearly half of the world’s children live in countries that are at extremely high climate risk. At this event, we will hear from the DCC team about its essential research and recommendations for what we can do next.

The Data for Children Collaborative with UNICEF is hosted by the University’s Edinburgh Futures Institute and is a partnership between:

  • UNICEF
  • The Scottish Government and
  • The University of Edinburgh.

In today’s fast-paced technological landscape, where data is a driving force and evidence is vital to decision making, the Collaborative wants to use data to produce real-world impacts that help the world’s children. Its goal is to use data and expertise, including innovative data science techniques, from our community to address existing problems for children.

This online event provides an opportunity to

  • understand more about the issues this data provides evidence for
  • find out how this can influence policy, planning and sustainable international development.

Join us to learn how we’re working with partners to address these critical international development areas, and about the opportunities to make a difference presented by these partnerships.
