Your Programme Director
Dear Class of 2025,
I am delighted to welcome you as a student on our exciting, innovative and future-oriented MSc Transformative Learning and Teaching (usually shortened to MSc TLT). This is the first full Masters route to teaching in Scotland and the only route that will qualify teachers to work across the primary/secondary transition phase; everything we do on the programme comes from an explicit social justice perspective. Our programme is proudly aspirational because the stakes for our children and young people are so high.
As a TLT-er you are joining a vibrant and growing community and you will work with a renowned group of academics who are engaged in important and world-class research. We have partnerships with schools across six local authorities and as part of the programme you will spend time engaged with site-based learning.
The MSc TLT has been designed to equip you to play an active role in supporting the diversity of today’s learner population to attain and achieve to the best of their abilities, explicitly tackling discrimination and disadvantage. You are joining the programme at a time of change in education, the economy and across society. As we look forward we will continue to adapt to post pandemic ways of working and consider some big education questions.
So, on behalf of the Programme Team, I welcome you to the MSc TLT and encourage you to work wholeheartedly with us to make a positive difference to generations of children, young people and their families.
