Personal tutoring and the new student support model
Information about personal tutoring and the new student support model which is gradually being introduced across the University.
Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught students
From 2023 all new undergraduate and postgraduate taught students will have a Student Adviser, specially trained to provide you with support during your studies. This is all part of a new model of student support, developed from the ideas of students and staff, as well as national and international benchmarking across the higher education sector.
The Schools pages will be updated shortly, providing more information regarding the new student support model.
In 2022/23, most Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught students at Moray House will have a Personal Tutor: a named member of academic staff who will support you throughout your time at the University, providing academic guidance and a route to pastoral support. Students on a small number of programmes will instead have a ‘Student Adviser’ and a ‘Cohort Lead’ as part of the new student support model (we will let you know if you are on one of these programmes). Both the University’s Personal Tutor system and the new student support model aim to help you to:
- become a more confident learner in your discipline
- play an active part in your academic community
- reflect on your academic progress
- make effective use of your academic feedback
- engage in effective career planning
- access academic and pastoral support to help you during your degree
