Outdoor Environmental and Sustainability Education (MSc/PgDip/PgCert)
Since 1972, the Outdoor and Environmental Education section of the University of Edinburgh has been at the international forefront of providing postgraduate degrees in all aspects of outdoor education. The Outdoor Environmental and Sustainability Education programmes have been offered since 2005. They offer a unique focus that spans Sustainability Education, through to Outdoor Education through a variety of approaches to learning.
The Outdoor Environmental and Sustainability Education programmes focus on the historical and contemporary approaches to outdoor, environmental and sustainability education. They are ideal for people working, or seeking to work in environmental education centres, interpretive centres, development organisations, environmental non-governmental or non-profit organisations, environment-related government work, and as park rangers.
Visit the University’s Degree Finder for indicative entry requirements, fees, international grade equivalency, and language requirements.
There are three possible exit levels: Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma, or Master's. The emphasis – at every level – is on developing the knowledge, understanding, and judgement necessary to facilitate meaningful learning in, for, and through the outdoors.
Graduates are employed world-wide in all aspects of the Outdoor and Environmental Education sector, such as in residential outdoor education centres, wilderness expeditions, and school, college and university outdoor and environmental education programmes.
