Learn the basics of how to become a freelancer or sole trader and discover the wider support available with our service and beyond.

 

In this two-part series we will help you explore the possibility of becoming a freelancer or accelerating your already established freelancing journey. These workshops will give you insight into what  it takes to become a successful freelancer including how to operate lawfully, marketing yourself and ensuring you get paid.

 

Freelancer’s workshop - Part 1

Thursday 16th November, 1pm – 3pm

In this two-hour workshop we’ll help you define your value as a freelancer and develop your customer profiles. You’ll get the chance to network with a community of aspiring and established student and alumni freelancers and learn about resources designed to help lay foundational elements to your freelancing career.

Freelancer’s workshop - Part 2

Thursday 23rd November, 1pm – 3pm

In this two-hour workshop we’ll help you map out your customer journey and explore how you can add value at each stage, from brand awareness to customer loyalty. We’ll also cover the practical concerns such as operating lawfully and making sure you get paid for your work. Network with a community of aspiring and established student and alumni freelancers and learn more about the resources available designed to help lay foundational elements to your freelancing career.

While you would benefit from attending both workshops, in order (part 1 followed by part 2) it is not necessary. You can attend them out of order or just one if you wish.

 

Who is this for?

For all students and recent graduates (two years after graduation) from the University of Edinburgh, no matter what you study or level of experience.
