Business Ideas Competition

Entering a business competition is a great way to raise money to launch your business or social venture.

Do you have an idea for a business or social enterprise? Tell us all about it and you could win part of £500!

Now closed.

Describe your idea, tell us what makes it special, what stage you are at and who are the potential customers. It's that simple.

This competition is always open through term-time.

Please keep to the word limits and do not provide external supporting evidence such as links.

Who can apply?

  • Any and all current students and recent graduates (within the last two years) from the University of Edinburgh.
  • If you have won a Business Ideas Competition in the past, you cannot win again.

We are looking for projects that will benefit from this level of support, and are at the 'idea' stage of development, although this doesn't necessarily disqualify businesses that have already formed. In order to accept the funds, you will need to agree that you will spend the money working on your business idea, and that you will continue working with Edinburgh Innovations to further develop the idea.

The Business Ideas Competition was a great opportunity for us to kick-start and validate our startup concept. We at ROBOCEAN: Ecosystem Engineering cannot wait to use our prize money to develop our prototype and save our seagrass."
