The iTPA Springboard Fund
£5,000 to take the step towards larger grants enabling commercialisation and impact.

Nurture your idea with up to £5,000 to discover its translational potential
The Springboard Fund offers a grant to help you fund the further development of early-stage ideas into impactful translational projects. If you’re seeking to prototype and test an idea, develop proof-of-principle of the translational application of your research, or even early proof-of-concept, this funding opportunity might be the first fundamental step in enabling access to larger grants, including the £20K iTPA Accelerator Fund, in your journey to commercialisation and impact.
Past uses of the funding include accessing data or samples, prototyping, creating new collaborations with industry, clinicians or stakeholders, research expenses, testing your idea in the field, amongst many others. We encourage researchers to think outside the box (and the lab) when it comes to the use of the prize, always looking at the bigger picture of where the £5,000 funding could take you.
Who is the 5k Springboard Fund for?
The fund is open to applications within the Wellcome science remit whose research focuses on human health and wellbeing. We’re keen to hear from postdocs and early career researchers – applications from these groups will take priority. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.
Don’t forget to discuss your interest with your PI to agree on the expected time commitment.
What does the application process look like?
Applying is quick and simple. If you’re interested, please discuss this with your PI first. In advance of submission, please register your interest below and we will get in touch to support you in developing your proposal.
