Patenting your inventions

The decision whether to patent a new idea, discovery or invention is made after evaluation and due diligence of the invention disclosure and based on commercial potential of the invention.

Understanding patenting

By patenting any suitable intellectual property generated here, the University (and EI) has the protection of law to justify the investment in commercialising any ideas, discoveries or inventions.

Patenting process

The patent application process is lengthy and will take years to obtain a granted patent, but this is a necessary part of the commercialisation strategy for your idea, discovery or invention.
