Keith Hartley is Deputy Director and Chief Curator of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh.

One of his specialist areas of interest is modern German art.

He has curated a number of exhibitions on German artists, including Käthe Kollwitz, Otto Dix, John Heartfield, Georg Baselitz, Wols, Joseph Beuys, Gerhard Richter, August Sander and ‘The Romantic Spirit in German Art’. He has also written and lectured widely on the subject.

Dr Christian Weikop is a specialist in modern and contemporary German art and has published extensively in this field.

He is a Chancellor’s Fellow in History of Art at the University of Edinburgh, and has given guest lectures and published books and catalogue essays on German art with many of the most important art and academic institutions in the world, including: Museum of Modern Art New York (MoMA), Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Harvard University, Humboldt University in Berlin, Hamburg Arts and Crafts Museum, the Courtauld Institute, Royal Academy London, Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, and Tate Modern.

Most recently as an envoy of the RA, he interviewed the artists Anselm Kiefer and Georg Baselitz, writing a catalogue essay on the former for the major RA retrospective. He also gave an ARTIST ROOMS opening lecture on Baselitz for the New Walk Museum in Leicester where Dr Weikop has worked as part of a team of experts researching the importance of their collection of German Expressionist art, the most extensive in the UK.
