Dr Harriet Riches is a writer and lecturer whose research focuses on women and photography. She completed her PhD at UCL, where her thesis focused on Francesca Woodman and the relationship between self-representation and the performance of the photographic medium.

She published her research on this topic in the journals Oxford Art Journal and Photographies, as well as in the book Girls! Girls! Girls! In Contemporary Art (edited by Catherine Grant & Lori Waxman, Intellect, 2011).

She writes for the journal Afterimage, and is now writing a book on femininity and the historiography of photography. She is currently Senior Lecturer in Art History at Kingston University.

John White is an MSc student in the University of Edinburgh's Modern and Contemporary Art: History, Curating and Criticism programme and a Writing Intern with the ARTIST ROOMS Research Partnership, for which he's writing a series of short texts on Francesca Woodman photographs in the ARTIST ROOMS collection.

He has previously interned at the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas and at artnet's New York offices. He has a BA in History of Art and Architecture from Brown University in the United States, where he wrote a thesis tracing Robert Rauschenberg's influence in Trisha Brown's work. His research interests include feminism, performance and site-specificity.
