Professor recognised in Queen's birthday honours for services to economics
Professor John Hardman Moore made CBE in Queen's birthday honours.
Professor John Moore joined the University of Edinburgh in 2000 as the George Watson's and Daniel Stewart's Professor of Political Economy, a position he still holds.
"This is a very well deserved recognition of John Moore's deep contribution to economics. His work addresses some of the most important questions in both microeconomics and macroeconomics. What determines the boundaries between firms and markets? How can we model the incompleteness of contracts? What are the frictions that inhibit financial contracting, and cause the financial system to malfunction? Why is it that problems in financial markets provoke and exacerbate difficulties elsewhere in the economy? John's answers to these questions, arrived at in collaboration with his two principal co-authors, Oliver Hart (Harvard) and Nobuhiro Kiyotaki (Princeton), have profoundly affected the discipline of economics, and provide a firm foundation for applied work and policy analysis."
Three current or former members of University staff have also been recognised in the Queen’s birthday honours list.
