School of Economics

Imran Shahryar

MA (Hons) Economics, 2010

After four wonderful and unforgettable years in Edinburgh, I moved down to London to study for a Masters degree (MSc Political Economy of Development) at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.

Subsequently, I obtained a place on the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) Fellowship Scheme, and I am now working as an Economist in the Economic Policy and Research Unit of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development in Sierra Leone. This job gives me a fantastic opportunity to use the skills and knowledge picked up during my years at University, and also gives me a chance to gain a unique insight into economic policy-making within a developing-country Government. I am also the Alumni Contact in Sierra Leone for the University of Edinburgh, so if any fellow alumni are living or visiting here, feel free to get in touch!

Send your email to economics@ed.ac.uk with Alumni Contact at the top and the office will pass it onto me.
