Religion and Literature

Engage in interdisciplinary study of the interaction between religion and literature, across a range of religious traditions, sacred texts and literary genres

Staff in the School offer a wide range of research specialisms in the field of religion and literature, including: literature and theology; the Bible in literature; literature in a range of genres in Jewish, Islamic, Hindu and Buddhist traditions, including ancient texts such as epics and religious poetry; religious thought in Scottish, English and Irish literature; and science, religion and literature. There is excellent library provision available to students, and the School’s Scottish Network for Religion and Literature runs events throughout the year to promote discussion and research in the field.
