College of Arts, Humanities and Social Science Research Awards

The College Research Student awards scheme is designed to attract high quality students applying for PhD research.

In the School of Divinity this PhD studentship will pay a stipend equivalent to the rate offered by the UK Research Councils (value to be confirmed: for guidance, in 2019-20 the rate was £15,009). The stipend will be paid in equal monthly instalments for a maximum of three years, subject to satisfactory performance. Tuition fees at the home/EU rate will be included in the award.

Eligibility

The award is open to UK, EU and overseas students commencing a PhD degree in the academic year 2020-21. This award is highly competitive, therefore, only an applicant with the highest standard of academic qualifications can be successful. To be considered for a College Research Award, you must:

  • Hold a UK 2.1 or first class honours undergraduate degree (or overseas equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Hold, or successfully achieve before commencing your PhD study, an equally high standard of postgraduate masters degree in a relevant field.

Overseas students must also apply for the Edinburgh Global Research Scholarship competition.
