Visiting students

Interested in applying to be a visiting student in the Graduate School?

We welcome applications from students registered at other Universities who feel they would benefit from a period of research or study at the University of Edinburgh, within the Postgraduate School of Divinity. Periods of formal affiliation are typically from one to ten months and are mainly intended for students undertaking specialist archive research or fieldwork in Edinburgh, although we may be able to accommodate students wishing to undertake taught courses.

For more information on becoming a visiting student please visit the Visiting Students Office section on the University website

Study abroad

The School of Divinity can offer you the opportunity to spend time studying at one of the prestigious universities with which we have exchange agreements.

PhD students who go on exchange usually do so to access library facilities and improve language skills during their second year of research.  If another year is preferable, due to the requirements of your project or personal circumstances, this is possible with the agreement of your primary supervisor. Exchanges are advertised in November each year although enquiries are welcome at any time.

Need more help?

Please contact the Postgraduate Office with any general or administrative enquiries, and the Programme Directors for academic enquiries.
