New College Founders Week

New College celebrated its 175th Founders Day on June 3rd 2021. The occasion was celebrated with a week of events and activities to mark the special anniversary.

New College Founders' Day Celebration

The Celebrations started on the 3 June, the date that Thomas Chalmers laid the New College foundation stone in 1846, with the New College Founders' Day Get Together. 

Professor Helen Bond, Rev. Professor Susan Hardman Moore and Professor Stewart Jay Brown kicked things off with talks about the history of New College. Vistors were then able to explore the virtual Rainy Hall, chatting to students, alumni, staff all of whom had links to New College.

New College Past, Present and Future Exhibition

The 3rd of June also saw the launch of the New College Past, Present and Future Online Exhibition. The exhbition details the history of New College from the 1800's to present day, and celebrates students, staff and community throughout the years. Visitors can navigate through an interactive timeline to explore the rich history of New College, and take a virtual tour of it's beautiful building and grounds.

New College Past and Present Live Event

On the 5th of June we held the New College Past and Present Live Event. Recorded live from the Rainy Hall, this event featured a series of talks and panel discussions from prominent New College figures and current students. Attendees tuned in online from all around the world as we reflected on the history of teaching at New College, its place in the world today and hopes for the future.
