Debating the future of democracy

Professor Mona Siddiqui will join a distinguished panel at the Scottish Parliament, 6 September 2018, for the John P Mackintosh Memorial Debate.

The Professor of Islamic and Interreligious Studies will join Lord Menzies Campbell of Pittenweem, former Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Angus Robertson, former Deputy Leader of the Scottish National Party and Catherine Stihler MEP, Labour Member of the European Parliament for Scotland on the panel to discuss: Where Now for Democracy? 

The Rt Hon Ken Macintosh MSP, Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament, will chair the event.

The debate has been organised by the University of Edinburgh, where Professor Mackintosh, a leading advocate of Scottish devolution, was the Professor of Politics until his death in 1978, at the age of 48.
