Professor David Fergusson has been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

Principal of New College, Professor David Fergusson has been awarded an OBE as part of the celebrations marking the Queen's 90th birthday. The award is in recognition for services to education, the arts, and the Church of Scotland.

The School of Divinity extend congratulations to Professor Fergusson who has been made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen's Birthday Honours list. The award has been made by Her Majesty to Professor Fergusson "for services to Education, the Arts and the Church of Scotland."

We could not think of a more deserving and hardworking recipient of this award who contributes to all aspects of life in the School of Divinity, the University of Edinburgh, the Church of Scotland, and wider society.

Congratulations on this thoroughly deserved accolade, we are totally delighted for you and for your whole family.

 

I'm delighted to be honoured in the Queen's Birthday Honours. My involvement in the wider sphere of university and church has been an important part of my work at New College over many years. I am greatly indebted to many colleagues who have offered their support and friendship along the way.
