Croall Lecture Series 2018: 'Vere Deus, Vere Homo: Reflections on the Incarnation' A Lutheran lay theologian, Ian McFarland took his first degree in Classics at Trinity College (Hartford) before going on to study theology at the Union Theological Seminary (New York), the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, and Yale University. He taught at the University of Aberdeen from 1998-2005, and then for ten years at Emory’s University’s Candler School of Theology before moving to Cambridge in 2015. His books include The Divine Image: Envisioning the Invisible God (2005), In Adam’s Fall: A Meditation on the Christian Doctrine of Original Sin (2010), and From Nothing: A Theology of Creation (2014). The lecture titles are: 30 April: One and the same 1 May: Perfect in divinity 2 May: Perfect in humanity 3 May: Christus Victor The Croall lectureship is a series sponsored by the Church of Scotland in honour of John Croall of Edinburgh, a coachbuilder and undertaker, who died in 1872. Previous lecturers have included William Milligan, H R Mackintosh, James Barr and Marilynne Robinson. These are public lectures, to which all are welcome. The first lecture will be followed by a drinks reception in Rainy Hall.
