Development and Alumni comprises four teams who are responsible for all aspects of fundraising and alumni engagement.
Chris Cox has worked in UK university fundraising and alumni relations for 24 years, at University College London, Newcastle University and the University of Manchester. He was Chair and Vice-Chair of the Ross Group of UK Development Directors 2010-13 and chaired the European Conference for the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) in Birmingham in 2017. He is a member of the Board of Governors at the Royal Northern College of Music.
He holds a BA in History from University College London and an MA in International Political Economy from Newcastle University.
Philanthropy and Donor Relations
The Philanthropy & Donor Relations team work with philanthropists, individual donors, corporate partners, and trusts and foundations to support projects, students and research across the University.
The team also work with academic and other departments to advise on relationships with potential donors and help in facilitating discussions about funding opportunities.
College Advancement and Health Philanthropy
The College Advancement and Health Philanthropy team work to increase alumni engagement and philanthropic funding opportunities for the University's schools and colleges, and for health programmes.
The Alumni Relations team provide opportunities for alumni and supporters to stay connected with the University and each other through events, reunions, clubs, networks and volunteering.
Development and Alumni Services
The Development and Alumni Services team support the work of the department by maintaining the alumni database and all IT infrastructure, financial management and donation processing alongside strategic data analysis and reporting. Development and Alumni Services also incorporates a research function providing intelligence to the department and the wider University.
