The degree is particularly suited to those who may wish to enter the world of academia, and become teachers of their profession, or who may wish to continue in a research environment affiliated to universities or industry.

Graduates must become registrants of the General Dental Council and, depending on which area they wish to pursue in their career, are able to work in all branches of dentistry including general dental practice, the salaried services (which include community and hospital environments), industry or the armed forces.

They may also wish to enter into business and to set up and own referral dental practices.

A number of UK dental institutions offer graduate entry into dentistry for which an Honours degree is a pre-requisite. The BSc (Hons) provides a robust platform for consideration to these programmes, should the individual wish to enter specialist areas of dentistry.
