After several years working in hospital clinics and in general practice, he and his wife took over a long established multi-chair general practice in 2006. The practice was immediately developed and expanded and became a VT training practice in 2010. Around this time, Stuart began a period of formal postgraduate training which he combined with his role in the practice. In 2013, he obtained an MSc in Implant Dentistry with distinction. In the same year he also obtained a PG certificate in Oral Surgery with merit. In 2014, he was accepted to the three-year, full-time Prosthodontic program at the University of Edinburgh Dental Institute. In July 2017, Stuart graduated from Edinburgh with distinction, being awarded the Nairn Wilson medal for clinical and academic excellence. In the same year, he successfully completed the Membership in Prosthodontics examinations at RCS Edinburgh and registered with the GDC as a Specialist in Prosthodontics. Stuart now divides his clinical time between his own practice and a multi-disciplinary referral clinic in Edinburgh. His clinical interests include digital dentistry and oral rehabilitations involving implants and conventional prosthodontics. Stuart is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, an expert witness for the GDC and also co-hosts a dental podcast. Outside of dentistry, Stuart is a keen Ultramarathon runner. Research Implant dentistry and Prosthodontics. Primary author of 5 published articles in peer reviewed dental journals.
