Lesley graduated from the University of Dundee with BMSc in Molecular and Cellular Pathology in 1995 (intercalated degree) and BDS with honours in 1998.

After completing her Vocational Training, she returned to the north-east of Scotland where she worked in general practice as an associate for over 20 years.

In 2014 she was awarded a Postgraduate Remote and Rural Fellowship. This allowed her to study for the MSc in Primary Dental Care from the University of Edinburgh, passing with distinction in 2018. She also achieved Membership in Primary Dental Care from The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in the same year.

She was Clinical Lecturer (Scholarship) at the Institute of Dentistry, Aberdeen from 2019-2023, supervising students on restorative dentistry clinics. She also acted as the general dental practitioner member of NHS Grampian Quality Improvement panel from 2019-2020, reviewing and supporting practitioners with their QI projects.

Lesley now works as a Dental Officer for Moray Public Dental Services. Her duties include supervision of visiting dental students during their Outreach clinical attachment.

Lesley has been the Early Career Dental Ambassador for the North of Scotland for The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh since February 2020. In this volunteer post, she represents the College and promotes its activities to local students and early career professionals.
