Image Margaret Ross, OBE At Edinburgh Dental Institute, we are delighted to announce the recognition of Margaret Ross in in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list 2017. The award of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) has been given as part of celebrations marking the Queen's 91st Birthday, in honour of Margaret’s services to dentistry. Professor Angus Walls welcomed Margaret’s accolade: It is with enormous pleasure that we congratulate Margaret Ross on being made on Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List. This is a huge honour for her and recognises her lifelong service to dentistry and in particular to Dental Care Professionals Professor Angus WallsDirector of EDI Margaret has worked in the Dental Institute since 2001 when she was appointed to the first senior lecturer’s post for Dental Care Professionals in the UK. Prior to this, she was employed for almost 20 years as a Dental Hygienist Tutor in Glasgow Dental Hospital & School. Margaret holds a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Glasgow. Last year she was awarded the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh Gold Medal for services to the College. This was the first occasion that this prestigious medal was awarded to an individual who was not a dentist. Satatement from Margaret: I am both delighted and humbled by this wonderful award. I have worked with a number of tremendous people throughout my career who have given me opportunities to develop my professional aspirations, and have helped me reach this point in my life.
