Patient enquiries

Due to the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and NHS Lothian’s Data Protection Act, we are unable to respond to any patient-related email enquiries, however, existing patient enquiries can be directed by telephone to 0131 536 1129.

If you send a patient enquiry by email to a University of Edinburgh email contact, we are unable to respond to your enquiry and your email will be deleted to protect your privacy.

 Patient  request for Personal Information including Medical Records

If you would like to request a copy of your medical and dental records please go to  Requests for Personal Information including Medical Records: (Subject Access Requests) – Your Rights & Privacy and complete the request form.  This form should then be sent to the  Edinburgh Dental Institute, Lauriston Building (4th Floor), Lauriston Place, Edinburgh EH3 9HA quoting the department you are under.

Existing appointments 

Patients who have an existing appointment, have received an appointment letter or have been referred by a dentist /doctor: If your query involves making, cancelling or rescheduling an appointment, please call:

Appointment office lines are open from:

9am to 5pm (Monday to Thursday)

9am to 4.30pm (Friday)

We are not open on weekends or public holidays.

On calling you will be asked to select one of the following 5 options:

1 - New patient appointments

2 - Cancellations

3  - Revised  or return appointments

4  - RHSC Children's dental appointments

5 - Secretaries – (Please note that secretaries are unable to deal with new patient or review / rescheduling appointments)
