It offers a critical insight into the implementation of the new water legislation in Brazil and includes examples from different sectors and Brazilian regions. It stduies, in the case of Brazil, how water management and regulation are considered politicised and contested issues, which have close association with the trajectory of economic growth and national development.

Dr Ioris previous book, Tropical Wetland Management: The South-American Pantanal and the International Experience, was published in October 2012 in Ashgate's series Studies in Environmental Policy and Practice.
