Cancer
The Centre for Comparative Pathology provides pathology support to all areas of cancer research across the University.
- Cancer models in the mouse and zebra fish have been established by the Cancer Research UK Scotland Centre (CRUK SC).
- One of Europe’s leading veterinary cancer research and treatment facilities is the Riddell-Swan Veterinary Cancer Centre at the University’s Easter Bush campus.
Capitalising on new imaging initiatives (Edinburgh In-Vivo Imaging), Systems Pathology, multi-species integration and ‘omics’ initiatives enables the Centre to support this activity and ensure that maximum information is obtained from all of these models.

- Red mT and green mG fluorescent protein detection in the mTmG Msh2-LS murine colon, following Cre activation, showing scattered green mG-expressing colonic crypts amongst background red mT-expressing crypts, muscularis and other tissues in 3-dimensions (z-stacks under confocal microscopy)
