Our Orthopaedic Trauma Unit has twelve orthopaedic traumatologists.
There are currently twelve orthopaedic traumatologists responsible for the primary management and secondary reconstruction of all adult orthopaedic trauma cases at the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary Accident and Emergency (A&E) department.
We collaborate closely with the Department of Medicine for the Elderly to provide innovative Early Supported Discharge and Geriatric Orthopaedic Rehabilitation liaison.
We also host the annual Trauma Symposium and Instructional Course.
After merging with the first School of Occupational Therapy in Scotland (second in the UK) and the Physiotherapy School at the Royal Infirmary, the Rehabilitation Studies Unit is currently located at Queen Margaret College. It is the largest college training professions allied to medicine in Europe.
The unit has previously received funding from the Association of British Insurers, the Chief Scientist's Office, Cancer Relief and the British Heart Foundation.
