Students can attend seminar series, workshops and courses during their studies.
There is a wide range of learning opportunities at CRM, Edinburgh Medical School and the wider University, open to postgraduate students. You are strongly encouraged to take full advantage of those opportunities while you are studying on our programme.
Seminars and lectures
Our programme includes lectures taught by basic scientists and clinician scientist, providing expert theoretical background in a variety of areas relating to regenerative medicine, including developmental biology, pluripotent and tissue stem cell biology, degeneration and regeneration of adult tissues, genetic engineering and bioinformatics.
Seminars at the Centre for Regenerative Medicine by group leaders and invited speakers will complement the programme, providing breadth and depth to your research projects and training. CRM runs a weekly external seminar series, with talks by invited speakers, and a weekly internal seminar series where the centre's PhD students and junior researchers present their research. Those seminars will expose you to a wide range of research topics related to stem cell biology, developmental biology, regenerative medicine and tissue repair.

You will also be able to attend a range of seminar series across the University, including at the various biomedical research centres at the campus where you will be based (the Little France Campus, Edinburgh BioQuarter). Schedules of several seminar series can be found on the web pages below.

Courses and workshops
Throughout the programme you will have the opportunity to attend a variety of generic and transferable skills courses and workshops, ranging from statistics to communication skills and professional development, including those offered by the University's Institute for Academic Development (IAD).
