We use multiple functional imaging parameters obtained in a single MR scan to describe:

• liver fibrosis
• iron content
• fat content
• perfusion (via non-invasive assessment of portal blood flow)

This assesses non-invasively, progression of liver disease & response to therapy or following surgery.

Applications to date in:

• cirrhosis
• non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
• macrophage therapy
• liver islet therapy
• liver transplant
• acute liver insult

This type of non-invasive test can help to prevent repeated liver biopsies, while also assessing liver heterogeneity in a manner which liver biopsies cannot.  

This is great for improved patient comfort and for assessing early responses to therapy
