09 Jun 22. PET PK Course success
The Positron Emission Tomography Pharmacokinetics Course 2022 successfully took place in May, and received great feedback from attendees.

The Positron Emission Tomography Pharmacokinetics (PET PK) Course is an international course on pharmacokinetic modelling of PET data.
The 2 and a half day course has been held annually since 1999, and is taught by international PET experts.
The course was held in Edinburgh this year, and the course tutors included colleagues from:
- US
- Netherlands
- Denmark
- Germany
- UK
- Sweden
This year’s course was organised by:
- Dr Catriona Wimberley, Research Fellow in PET-MR physics
- Anne Grant, Clinical Imaging Facilities Manager
- Dr Adriana Tavares, Chancellor’s Fellow in PET imaging
And also with the fantastic help from some of the PhD students in the PET is Wonderful (PiW) group:
- Bea Andrews
- Jason Laval
- Kali Pandya
- Liam Carr
- Robert Shaw
We spoke with Dr Adriana Tavares for a summary on the success of the course and the topics covered.
“Another exciting PET PK course edition took place in Edinburgh and covered basic mathematics of pharmacokinetic modelling, basic principles of pharmacokinetic modelling and key pharmacological principles.
Multiple kinetic modelling approaches were discussed, including compartmental and graphical analysis methods.”
