The Harvey Prize Symposium is run by the Vascular, Lipid & Metabolic Medicine Section of the Royal Society of Medicine.

This webinar hosts 12 short presentations about interesting topics in vascular medicine of controversial nature that provokes intense debate. The two best presentations were awarded 1st & 2nd prize.

Dr Una Clancy presented findings from the Mild Stroke Study 3 about recurrent subcortical infarcts despite optimal secondary stroke prevention. The MSS3 is a project funded by UK Dementia Research Institute, Fondation-Leducq, Chief Scientist Office & Stroke Association.

Una is a CSO Clinical Research Fellow in Cerebral Small Vessel Diseases with Professor Joanna Wardlaw’s SVD Research Group.

For her CSO-funded fellowship, Una is interested in detecting clinical factors associated with the presence & progression of SVD, including neuropsychiatric symptoms.

We asked Una how she felt regarding her first place prize.

I was delighted to receive the prize & am very grateful to all of the participants & their families taking part in Mild Stroke Study 3. They are incredibly dedicated in continuing study follow-up during such an unusual time.

I would especially like to thank my supervisors Prof Joanna Wardlaw & Dr Fergus Doubal, as well as the wider SVD research group, who provided valuable input for this presentation.
