Age specific MRI images and atlases now available
University of Edinburgh has launched a website (http://www.brainsimagebank.ac.uk) for The Brain Imaging of Normal Subjects (BRAINS) project.
Edinburgh Imaging are delighted to be leading the Brain Images of Normal Subjects (BRAINS) project.
BRAINS has been developed with more than 1000 normal subjects from across the lifespan. It has collated images, and associated information (metadata) about health (e.g. blood pressure) already collected from people participating in research projects throughout Scotland. Many of these studies include detailed information from across the whole lifecourse, including socioeconomic status, current and previous health, medication use and cognitive ability tests.
The BRAINS Imagebank, provides a searchable, living database of images and clinical information across the lifespan. Summary data can be accessed with simple online verification. Applications for data use will be reviewed by the BRAINS steering committee
Also available from the BRAINS project are age specific MRI atlases from young adults to the very elderly.
