Having a Retinal Imaging exam at the EIF RIE
Watch our video explaining what happens when you arrive for a retinal imaging exam at the EIF RIE.
"When you arrive at the Edinburgh Imaging RIE facility, you will press a buzzer to gain access to the facility & be greeted by the retinal imaging technician. Your name & appointment will be confirmed. You will be asked to complete a safety checklist. The technician will go through this with you.
The technician will take you through to the retinal imaging room. This is a ‘controlled area’ which can only be accessed by authorised staff.
The retinal imaging technician will adjust the chin rest & table height, & you will be asked to focus on the centre of a blue cross.
The exam may take between 5-10 minutes.
When the retinal imaging exam is over, the technician will escort you out of the department."
