About the SVD Network Meeting 2021

SVD Network Meeting  took place on the 18th February 2021. The meeting created an unique opportunity for the Network to gather together for the first time since the last face-to-face meeting held in-person in November 2019. Due to the ongoing global pandemic, the date of the meeting was delayed and the event was held virtually.

The attendees had a chance to listen to presentations on studies providing a perspective on causes, treatment and prevention of small vessel diseases presented from clinical and pre-clinical research fields. Presentations were followed by discussions in the virtual breakout rooms.

The meeting was hosted by two PhD candidates: Mr Alasdair Morgan and Ms Tessa Procter, and Research Administrator Ms Agnieszka Czechon who opened the meeting with the Network updates. The meeting was concluded by Professor Joanna Wardlaw.

The meeting has received enthusiastic attendance from 62 SVD Research scientists and received generous reviews:

It was a very interesting meeting. It illustrated the wide variety of approaches we are using at the University of Edinburgh to tackle the mechanisms of small vessel disease and it greatly promoted the establishment of collaborations among us.

Dr Blanca Díaz-CastroUK Dementia Research Institute at University of Edinburgh

It was great to chat to everyone in the network again and meet new researchers in the community. Looking forward to next year's already!
