Introduction to Neurodegenerative Diseases CPD Module

An introduction to multiple neurodegenerative diseases from both clinical and nursing angles - covering causes, symptoms, progression and current therapeutic strategies.

This module will introduce you to the following neurodegenerative diseases from the clinical perspectives of both medical and nursing expertise:

  • Motor Neurone Disease
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Cognition and Neurodegeneration

We will not only look at the similarities between these neurodegenerative diseases but you will also explore the clinical base of knowledge encompassing causes, symptoms, progression and current therapeutic strategies. Finally, you will also be introduced to the perspectives seen and dealt with by the nurses as they deal with the patients following their diagnosis.

You will learn about:

  • symptoms of these neurodegenerative diseases
  • what cells and regions are affected and potential mechanisms of disease progression
  • Therapies and their effectiveness
  • Nursing perspectives
